Going on up to Edgar

Spent part of the weekend near Edgar Wisconsin with Tony at his book stand.  If you ever want to know how he comes to know so much about the history of USA industrialization, just remember he works at events where folks gather to celebrate their industrial artifacts.  This is what some of the Producer Class does for fun!

The Age of Steam may seem romantic in retrospect but up close, these machines are incredibly noisy, dangerous, extremely labor-intensive, and don't get very much useful work out of the energy they consume.  On the other hand, it is very unlikely that humanity would have figured out much about the internal combustion engine if it hadn't first gone through the stage of the external combustion (steam) engines.

The weather cooperated unlike last year when it rained on my attempt to get some video of this machinery.
